Sunday Best #15: The Bestival Podcast – part three

Come gather round bestivalians, for this maybe the final taste of summer that will get you through the long cold winter ahead.

Throw your mind back to the hot hot heat, early september, the Isle de Blanc, England.

Press play now for your aural pleasure.

The joys of Bestival on this podcast include a ridiculous adventure with the night of Ukulele, a visit from a cheeky Cuban Brother intent on telling our presenter about his glistening bell end (!?!), a beatboxing Beardyman, some Isle of Wight young uns out in the fields talking to you lot, the XX Teens, Candie Payne and Summer Holidays with some live musical gems…and the quest for the secret of the WI womens Victoria sponge continues.

Get in.

Sunday Best #14: The Bestival Podcast – part two

The Trojan SoundsystemAfter a blinding set in the Big Top on Sunday afternoon, the Trojan Soundsystem joined the aquatic airwaves of Bestival Radio for an hour of blissful, sunshine, reggae fun. Selectors Earl Gateshead and Daddy Ad were joined by Chucky Banton and Super Four on MC duties.

Trojan Soundsystem formed in 2004 from London Sound System legends, to represent the label in England and across the globe. Earl Gateshead began Djing in Brixton in 1979, worked as selector and MC with Cutty Ranks, Big Youth, Dr Alimantado, and Dennis Alcapone. Earl is a London legend – well known for his twenty year residency at The Dive Bar in London’s Chinatown and his Saturday residency at the legendary Blue Note club. Daddy Ad comes from the Roots and Reality Soundsystem and has worked with Gregory Isaacs, Tappa Zukie and Anthony Gunshot Johnson. The Sound Systems vocalists (Brother Culture, Superfour, Chucky Banton) all have twenty years experience as members of the great South London Sound Systems, Twelve Tribes, Taurus, Jah Revelation, Sir Coxsone and Saxon. They have been chosen as the absolute cream of London’s reggae entertainers. Special TSS guests have included Lee Perry, Dr Alimantado, Tippa Irie, Dennis Alcapone, Horace Andy and Gregory Isaacs.

Sunday Best #13: The Bestival Podcast – part one

Hello and welcome to the first Bestival podcast of 2007 – Join the Bestival FM team as they scoot about the Robin Hill site reporting on the gala opening, enjoy the company of northern tent erectors and marvel at Captain Disco’s costume description and the sound of lobsters on stilts at the fancy dress parade to beat all others.

Not only that; we have audio treats, recorded in the Bestival FM engine room, from Emmy The Great whose stripped-down acoustic songs live up to her name and Joe Driscoll’s one man band version of the Roots has to be heard to be believed. Finally we join The Metros for some big choruses in a new wave style, live from the BBC Introducing stage.

Crikey me! If that doesn’t get your Bestival itch scratched – I don’t know what will. Remember to come back for more podcast action featuring exclusive tracks and Bestival FM highlights from Candie Payne, XX Teens, Trojan Soundsystem, Beardy Man and much, much more – re-live the Bestival mayhem or get your whistle wetted for Bestival 2008!! Until then…..toot toot!
